Jay Z And Celebrity Friends Launch Social Media Campaign To Support Streaming Service

Remember that Illuminati meeting we told you Jay Z held Grammy week that all the top artists attended so they could discuss his new streaming service? Well, it looks like the service has been renamed and he’s using the star power to back his new brand by starting a viral campaign on twitter.

Here’s more details about his plans for the service via Page Six reports:

Jay Z will launch his streaming music service, Tidal, with the backing of a host of artists, including Taylor Swift, Madonna, Jack White, country star Jason Aldean and Daft Punk.

Jay is throwing a splashy New York launch event at 5 p.m. Monday at NYC’s James A. Farley Post Office building.

Jay has cut deals with a host of artists — including those in the Roc Nation stable, such as Rihanna and Kanye West — to stream all of their content on the service.

A music industry executive told us, “Tidal isn’t just about streaming music. Users will be able will be access audio, video, social media , B-roll, merchandise, ticketing. Users will be able to have a special connection to the artists.”

Tidal uses a high-fidelity streaming protocol that boasts better sound quality.

And while artists, particularly Swift, have complained that rival service Spotify doesn’t fairly compensate artists, insiders say Tidal is “going to be Robin Hood, the first minority-owned, artist-friendly streaming service.”

Jay recently bought Tidal for $56 million from Swedish tech company Aspiro.

What do you think about the service? We hope they get the science right — we’d hate for it to be like that Samsung venture where nobody could get the album because everyone was on the app at the same time.

We’re expecting Hov, Bey, Kanye or RihRih to shock the world any minute now with some new song that’s exclusively available on Tidal just to make sure everyone is on board. SMH.
