Guatemalan Citizens Sue John Hopkins For $1 Billion Because Of 1940s STD Experiments

Eight hundred victims and their families from Guatemala filed a $1 billion lawsuit against John Hopkins University for its science experiments that used Guatemalan citizens as guinea pigs. These experiments occurred during the 1940s and infected hundreds with STDs. According to WBAL-TV, the plaintiffs participated in U.S. government-funded experiments to see if penicillin could stop STD transmission from partner to partner. Children, psychiatric patients and prison inmates were infected with syphilis, gonorrhea and other diseases without their consent or knowledge.

Chrysler Must Pay $150 Million Penalty In Six-Year-Old Boy’s Death

Chrysler was hit with a $150 million judgment over the death of a four-year-old Georgia boy who succumbed to injuries sustained in one of the company’s vehicles. The jury decided that Chrysler was at fault for Remington Walden’s March 2012 demise. “The fuel tank installed behind the rear axle on the SUV he was riding in, a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, leaked after a pickup truck rear-ended it, setting the vehicle ablaze,” reports The Wall Street Journal.
