Carol Maraj Tells BOSSIP Her Girl Is Not Headed Down The Altar At Dress For Success Gala

Nicki Minaj’s mom has set the record straight on whether or not Meek Mill popped the question to her famous daughter.

Minaj has spent the last few days dropping hints on social media that she was in fact engaged to Mill, 27. Just two days ago she posted a picture on Instagram of a large yellow heart shaped diamond ring on her ring finger.

But it turns out, the answer is no.

“I talk to my daughter everyday, and she said she was not engaged,” Maraj told BOSSIP Thursday night at the “Dress For Success Worldwide” gala in Manhattan, where she was honored for her work supporting domestic violence victims.

Guests were disappointed that Minaj was not able to attend. Maraj told BOSSIP that she had spoken to her daughter earlier that day, and Minaj posted a picture of her mother on Instagram captioned with, “My Mommy.”
“Nicki said she was very proud of me,” Maraj said.

In introducing their mom to the dressed to the nines crowd, Maraj’s sons’ Jelani and Miciah spoke of the sacrifices their mom made to insure their happiness. Maraj, herself a victim of domestic violence, spoke about her mission to end domestic violence and thanked Dress For Success head Joi Gordon for honoring her.
“By you honoring me you bring attention to my undertaking to bring an end to domestic violence,” Maraj said.

In 2012, she started The Carol Maraj Foundation for the prevention of violence against women. The foundation’s goal is to help battered victims develop the life skills necessary to improve their situation.

Minaj always credits her mom with her desire to be a singer because she is an accomplished playwright and gospel singer who has performed in churches throughout Trinidad and the U.S. Through music, Maraj said she’s been able to speak out against all forms of emotional and physical abuse.
“It is important for battered women and families to know that somebody cares, we care,” Maraj said.
