Promoter Says One-Time Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Stars Didn’t Turn Up For $4,000 Club Appearance; Partied In Las Vegas Instead
Former Love & Hip Hop Atlanta couple Benzino and Althea Hart took the money and ran– partying in Vegas when they were paid to make a club appearance Down South, a new lawsuit claims.
Promoter Caldwell Wright and The Special Event Travel Network are suing the couple and theft by deception, after they say Benzino and “Thi Thi” agreed to appear at the “Ski Event” in Pigeon Forge, Tn., in January, for $4,500, but didn’t bother to show up and instead spent that night turning up in Las Vegas.
Despite their no-show, the pair has refused to return a $1,750 deposit for the gig, according to the lawsuit, which was filed May 1 in Fulton County, Ga. The couple may have needed new ways to make money after they were fired by Love & Hip Hop Atlanta last year following a reunion show brawl with co-stars Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez.
The promoters said Benzino and Hart’s no-show meant they had to scramble to find a replacement, and cough up more cash to change the event’s advertising.
“Plaintiffs’ reputation suffered as a result of the defendant’s breach of contract,” court papers state.
The promoters want their deposit back, plus $2,500 in legal fees and a restraining order.
A cell phone listed in Benzino’s name was turned off Monday.
