[Google] has started embedding engineers at select Historically Black Colleges and Universities so they can teach, mentor, and advise on curriculum. Last year, Google revealed… their diversity numbers after the Rev. Jesse Jackson called for a movement to open up Silicon Valley. “Today 35 percent of African Americans receiving computer science degrees come from those schools, but they don’t make their way to Silicon Valley’s top tech firms. Google is typical — about 1 percent of its technical staffers are Black,” reports The Huffington Post.

Though the South African city used to have a reputation of being violent, that seems to have changed a great deal. In fact, the 2015 YouthfulCities Index has just named Johannesburg as the “most popular African city” overall for young people aged 15-to-29. The index analyzes the perceptions of youth on 20 attributes, including creativity, employment, safety and entrepreneurship. Overall, Africa is dominated by youth, with more than 40 percent of its working age population being between 15 and 24. Actually, Africa is the youngest continent in the world.
Kenya’s Deputy President Says “No Room” For Gays In Country
Kenya‘s deputy president William Ruto told church attendees this past Sunday that there is “no room” for gays in the East African nation. Ruto’s comments came just as U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was arriving for discussions with Kenyan officials.
Kenya is in the midst of an ongoing human rights debate as a large pro-gay lobby group was allowed to register by a high court decision recently. Homosexuality is illegal in Kenya, and President Uhuru Kenyatta has been very vocal about his disdain for the lifestyle.
