Racists Vandalize Car Because White Family Has Black Friend
A white family hosting a black friend for a couple of days found their pickup truck covered in racist graffiti on Friday morning, according to reports.
Josh Joseph, an African-American from Louisiana, had been visiting Darren and Hayli Franke while interviewing for a job near their home in Spring, Texas, which is around 20 miles north of Houston, KRIV-TV reported.
The group hung out together in front of the family’s house on Thursday night, passing much of the time in the family’s garage with the door open, KPRC-TV reported.
The next morning, they woke up to find the n-word, phalluses, and “KKK” spray-painted in orange and black on the white truck, according to KPRC.
“It just makes me sick,” Hayli Franke told KRIV. “It’s 2015, racism should be over. People shouldn’t be doing things like that.”
The family’s friend expressed some doubts about relocating to Spring, which has an African-American population of around 20% and a white population of roughly 64%, according to the latest census figures.
“I was mostly shocked,” Joseph said. “I’m supposed to be moving here soon. And that’s what I see on there. I was about to leave. I felt like I wasn’t wanted here.”
