Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Inspire A Sitcom
The swirly matrimony-dom of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen has inspired the creator of “Black-Ish” to pitch a new show “Ordinary People” which will also involve the couple as producers.
According to Buzzfeed reports:
Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, who just inked a three-year overall deal with ABC Studios to develop new projects, told BuzzFeed News on Friday that his first effort will be a sitcom loosely based on the marriage between the Grammy- and Oscar-winning singer and Sports Illustrated supermodel.
“It’s inspired by them — they’re both super creative and super effusive and I’m just fans of them and everything they stand for,” Barris said in a phone interview of Legend and Teigen, who are working as producing partners on the project. “I’m really excited about it.”
The show’s tentative title, Ordinary People, comes from Legend’s 2004 Grammy-winning track of the same name. “I feel that song serves a thematic background for the show,” Barris said.
The sitcom is in early planning stages, but Barris said that it “will be about an interracial couple. We don’t know what’s going to be what. But it will be a part of the show in terms of showing those two world’s colliding and coming together — their issues and their obstacles that [happen inside] their personal relationship.”
If the pilot gets the greenlight, Barris said they’ll start filming in February.
“Hopefully, it will become something we can all be proud of,” he added.
Some outlets are already pegging this show as a potential modern version of “I Love Lucy.” Does Chrissy give you Lucy vibes? Now that we think about it, she is kinda like Lucille Ball — just more attention slorish.
Here’s a little more background on the couple via Daily Mail:
Utah-born Chrissy, 29, owes her exotic beauty to her Thai mother and her Norwegian father while John, 36, is a black American who hails from Springfield, Ohio.
The couple met on the set of John’s 2007 music video for Stereo. They married on September 14, 2013 in Como, Italy.
How how the couple will work the new series into their busy schedules remains to be seen.
Chrissy is due to appear in a new ABC syndicated daytime talk show, FABLife, alongside Tyra Banks, Yahoo Style Editor in Chief Joe Zee, interior designer and TV host Lauren Makk and The Haute List co-host Leah Ashley.
And, of course, Chrissy has her gig on Lip Sync Battle, which aired its season finale on Thursday evening on Spike TV plus her many appearances on shows including Entertainment Tonight, Extra, as well as hosting the Billboard Music Awards and the Daytime Emmys.
John is due to play a series of concerts including two in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 18 and 20; Rome and Padua in Italy on November 11 and 12; and the Alumni Arena in Amherst New York on November 18.
