That’s not racist at all…

Anthony Horowitz Says Idris Elba Is “Too Street” For James Bond

Although he’s already said he’d turn down the role if offered, Idris Elba’s name is continuing to be brought up surrounding a possible role as James Bond.

Most recently author Anthony Horowitz whose penning the new 007 book series, gave an interview and said he thinks the black actor is “too street” for the role.

Furthermore he says he’d rather see actor Adrian Lester on the big screen as the super spy.

The Daily Mail reports:

And he is just as unimpressed with the trailer for the new film, Spectre.
Neither is Horowitz impressed with the favourite to take over from Daniel Craig.

‘Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better.’

He names Adrian Lester, star of Hustle.

‘For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too “street” for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.’

Uhhhhh DJ Driis is “too street”???

Mind you he’s also been told that he’s not “ENGLISH english” enough to play the character, whatever that means.

Twitter has (of course) taken off with reactions to Hororwitz’ racist reasoning….

and Horowitz has released a full statement apologizing.

Hit the flip to see him back peddle on his Idris Elba’s “too street” comments.
