Idrissi, a London native with a Pakistani mother and a Moroccan father, is a Muslim and wears a hijab, which is what makes her participation in this campaign so remarkable. Ta-Nehisi Coates Win Genius Grant
Ta-Nehisi Coates‘ 2015 has been epic, and there isn’t an ounce of hyperbole in that statement. The renowned author is the recipient of a MacArthur “Genius Grant.” The 24 winners of the grants were announced yesterday, and Coates will receive a strings-free $625,000 off the strength of being great at what he does, as per the MacArthur Fellows foundation… This year, Coates published his latest book, Between The World And Me, to critical acclaim and an endorsement from the great Toni Morrison (and a nod from Jay Z). More recently, Marvel announced that he will be writing a new Black Panther series.
