Adele Releases New Video For Hello Featuring Tristan Wilds

Wait… is that Tristan Wilds??

According to Vanity Fair the former “The Wire” star is helping Adele bring back her #crytunes with this new video off her highly anticipated new album 25.

As she announced she would yesterday, Adele has dropped her first music video in three years. Directed by Canadian auteur Xavier Dolan, “Hello” features mostly lush close-ups of Adele, her co-star Tristan Wilds (The Wire, 90210), and the rain-soaked Montreal landscape. But while the video is intimate, it also has an epic feel to it. That large-scale feeling is likely due to the cast that “Hello” is the first music video to ever film with IMAX cameras. Leave it to Adele to come back in a major way.

When unveiling her new single, Adele told the BBC the new song was “very intimate” and “very conversational. I’m singing very high up in that chorus, trying to have a Meatloaf moment or something,” she joked. Adele confesses that she worried about the mysterious strategy she used to roll out her new album. Talking about the short snippet of “Hello” that premiered over the weekend, Adele said, “I thought no-one’s going to know it’s me. It’ll backfire.” But Adele’s devoted audience figured it out and the anticipation over the past few days has been sky-high.

Adele also says she wasn’t feeling pressure for 25 to perform as well as 21 did because, in her view, there’s no chance of that happening at all. “Because of my last album, because of what it went on to do, it was kind of a write-off to ever expect anything with this album, the new one, like that. So actually it made it a bit easier,” she said. “Getting into the headspace was really difficult – obviously now I’m a parent, and having such a break off, I kind of fell out of the habit of writing songs. So no I didn’t feel pressure. But also I feel like every album I’m ever going to write is always going to be following 21. Even no matter what this album does, my next record’s going to be following 21.
