Sheriff Denies Racism In Spring Valley Arrest Because Cop Dates Black Woman

The video of a female student at Spring Valley High School being physically accosted by police officer Ben Fields has lit a white hot flame in the social conscious of black folks over the past 24 hours. While many of the reactions have obviously been centered around race, Officer Fields’ superiors don’t seem to think that race played any factor whatsoever in the incident…

A South Carolina sheriff says he doesn’t think that race played a role in his officer’s arrest of a female high school student.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday that the deputy that made the arrest, Ben Fields, has been dating an African-American woman for “quite some time.” He says that if that had any bearing on the arrest, it would have been in a positive way, not a negative one.

“He couldn’t POSSIBLY be a racist! He’s having sex with a black woman!”

White people say the stupidest s#!t when it comes time to defend each other against claims of racism.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told CNN on Tuesday about the existence of another video that purportedly shows the violent arrest of a student in a South Carolina classroom.

In that video, he said, the student can be seen resisting.

“It showed the officer as he puts his hands on her, her punching him,” Lott said, adding that the student’s behavior doesn’t justify what happened after.

“Just because she was wrong in what she was doing doesn’t make what he was doing completely right also,” the sheriff said.

He also told CNN that the school resource officer involved in the incident has been suspended without pay.

They’re REALLY trying it with this one…SMH
