Celebrities Who Deny Their Blackness

Celebrity and race are complicated. Plenty of Black celebrities have gone on record by denying their Blackness for whatever reason. It’s crazy, but they do it. Take a look at these celebrities who want you to know they’re not Black…

Raven Symone – She went on Oprah and explained: “I’m an American…I’m not an African American; I’m an American.” A few weeks later she said she was from every continent in Africa so there’s also that.

Amber Rose – She identifies as “mixed” and talks about all aspects of her heritage equally.

Taye Diggs – He’s Black but he wants his kid to be identified as mixed only. Nothing else.

Shemar Moore – “I’m very proud to be Black, but I’m just as much Black as I am white.”

Zoe Saldana – She said she didn’t believe in people of color. But…

Keyshia Cole – She said she didn’t know if she should be on Black Girls Rock because she wasn’t sure she was all the way Black. Of course, the slander came swiftly.

Karrine Steffans – “I think people forget, I’m an islander. I’m not African American.”

Bill Cosby – “We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don’t know a thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail.”

Sounds like he’s denying those roots. Bet he wishes Black people had his back now.

Wentworth Miller – He hid his Black side while he was in college and admitted to it publicly a few years ago.
