Mendeecees Harris Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison

Things have officially gone from bad to worse for the Harris family. Yandy Smith’s husband/fellow “Love & Hip Hop” star Mendeecees Harris has received an 8 year prison sentence for federal drug trafficking.

The news of his 8 year sentence correlates with BOSSIP’s report that federal prosecutors asked a judge to “go easy” on the reality star after he took a deal and pled guilty to felony drug trafficking and conspiracy, admitting that he and his accomplices ferried large amounts of cocaine and heroin to upstate New York.

Democrat & Chronicle reports:

Mendeecees Harris, a star in the popular VH1 reality series Love & Hip Hop-New York, received a 97-month prison sentence in Rochester on Tuesday for a federal drug trafficking crime.

Harris pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Rochester in April.

Harris’ plea called for a sentence of eight to 10 years in prison.

He has been free under a bail agreement in which his earnings from the show and his paid public appearances are turned over to the federal government. That amount was more than $100,000 in April but may have significantly grown since then.

Harris this year married his girlfriend Yandy Smith, who has been a continuing fixture on the reality show.

Harris was facing up to 40 years in prison and a $5 million fine.

This has got to be horrible news for Yandy and the kids.

Mendeecees has since posted on Instagram that he’s made peace with his sentence and is using it as a teachable moment.
