Rita Ora Sues Roc Nation
Rita Ora is a singer, but in recent years she’s been best known for being…around, basically. She’s only released one album since getting signed in 2008, and a handful of random singles here and there ever since.
Now, the songstress has had it with being Roc Nation’s Cassie, and blames her boss Jay Z and his record company Roc Nation, because she claims that their focus on sports has diminished the music department, leaving her and her music in the dust.
Rita Ora is suing Jay Z’s Roc Nation claiming she was left in the dust when the company started repping pro athletes.
TMZ obtained the lawsuit, filed Thursday in L.A., and Rita says the change of direction at Roc Nation led to a revolving door of executives, and eventually there was no one left who had worked with her.
Rita says Roc Nation’s only released one album for her since she signed in 2008, but says she’s sitting on a bunch more music that the label hasn’t released.
She says her deal could keep her in Roc’s stable until 2019 or later — but she wants out now, and says there’s legal precedent in CA for her release to be granted.
Interesting. We don’t know too many details about the case, but seeing as how they don’t appear to be doing much with Rita besides dressing her up and sending her to events…they should be willing to let her go, don’t you think??
