According to Variety, Netflix has given the green light on flipping her book into a comedy series. Sources also say that the streaming service is teaming up with Kay Cannon and Charlize Theron to fill the roles of pilot script writer and showrunner. #Girlboss is an autobiography about the life and times about Amoruso’s rise to success that was released in May 2014. Like a true rags-to-riches story, Amoruso details her selling vintage on eBay, building Nasty Gal, and becoming the CEO of a multi-million dollar fashion empire at just 27…
Help A Sister Out: Do You Support Fellow BLack Women In The Workplace?
All of the CEOs at the top 10 biggest banks in the U.S. are men and women comprise a mere 21 (or 4 percent) of the S&P 500’s CEOs. Women still on average earn less, 78 cents for every dollar a man earns, according to a study from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research. This means a woman misses out on more than $10,000 annually in pay on average… women are often faced with very hostile work environments when they do break through the glass ceiling. According to AOL Jobs, out of the 11,717 sexual harassment charges brought in 2010, a whopping 83 percent came from women…. So these discouraging stats beg the question: Should women stick together in the workplace? Should Black women especially be more willing to extend a hand to those around them as they make their own way up the corporate ladder?
Pharrell Williams Now Co-Owner Of G-Star RAW
Who has more jobs, Swizz Beatz or Pharrell Williams? Score another one for the latter as the Neptunes producer, artist, designer and a host of other titles revealed he is now a co-owner of G-Star RAW jeans. Pharrell made the announcement via Instagram. “On top of my business. As of today, proud to be a co-owner of @GSTARRAW,” is the caption of a photo of Virginia native with a sea of denim jeans in the back. He adds, via a press release, “G-Star is an independently minded and forward thinking company. I believe they will be the definitive jeans brand of the 21st century. I am looking forward to be part of that mission and to co-create G-Star’s future…”
