Dwight Howard And Barbara Bush Debut Basketball-Themed Literacy PSAs
90-year-old Barbara Bush is a hooper now!
Well, not quite. But she did team up with bonafide baller Dwight Howard at Texas’ Toyota Center to shoot a few hoops on the court and talk about literacy in their new PSA.
According to People Magazine:
Howard helped the 90-year-old Bush around the court and even cuddled up for some sweet promotional photos – both wearing matching Rockets jerseys, of course.
…”Together, the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and the D12 Foundation are slam dunking on low literacy rates in Houston and ensuring every child succeeds,” the Literacy Foundation wrote on Facebook.
In the PSA, which is scheduled to be released later this month, Howard and Bush aim to encourage communities to raise literacy rates through volunteering and service at local libraries, schools, and non-profit organizations. The PSAs will be available on the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy foundation website Connect4Literacy.org
We are also happy to see that friend to the site Karen Civil made the list of recommended books with her latest release ‘Be You & Live Civil’. Congratulations! And let’s keep reading!
