Lauryn Hill Skips Grammy Awards Performance
The 58th Annual Grammy Awards were a big night for some of your faves, but somewhat of a bust on the performance front for viewers. With big performances like Adele’s fraught with technical difficulties, and even a last-minute cancellation from one of the night’s biggest performers — Rihanna — viewers were not treated to as grand a fanfare as many were expecting.
Apparently there was one more performance that viewers didn’t get an opportunity to catch. Though the information was largely kept under wraps, social media began buzzing early in the day that Ms. Lauryn Hill was slated to surprise the crowd with a duet with The Weeknd on his big “Beauty Behind The Madness” Grammy night.
Her presence was even teased via dressing room signage:
So where was she? Actually…no one is quite sure. As PageSix reports:
Grammy insiders are peeved Lauryn Hill was a no-show for her performance with The Weeknd after rehearsing with the singer earlier Monday.
“All they said was she was a no-show, but I believe it was some kind of disagreement with the production,” said a source.
Another insider close to the production told us Hill skipped her performance because of traffic.
Well The Weeknd ended up taking the stage alone and killing it, so we suppose all is well that ends well. But we would have loved to see Lauren do what she does best on the Grammy stage…
