7th Grader Forced Out Of School Because Dreadlocks Are "Threatening"
War On Black Hair: 7th Grader Forced To Change Schools After Refusing To Cut His Dreads

Why are people so afraid of black hair?
Black Boy Forced To Change Schools In Dreadlock Controversy
Yet another child is being punished for his hair style, this time for having dreadlocks. Isaiah Freeman is 7th grader who attended The West End Christian School in Hopewell, Virginia — that is until he was threatened with daily punishments for every day he refused to cut his dreaded hair. The boy has been rocking dreads since 3rd grade, so his parents were surprised he faced such harsh consequence.
They even tried to pull his hair back in a neat bun, but it still wasn’t “professional” in the words of the principal. His father also elaborated with CBS6 news that ‘it’s an issue of people feeling uncomfortable with a young black male having dreadlocks and having a certain persona of negativity’. Peep the story in the words of the family below.
