Monique Mosley Said Timbaland Cut Her Off When She Filed For Divorce
Timbaland’s estranged wife has accused him of trying to destroy her financially as the pair battle it out in their increasingly acrimonious split.
Monique Mosley said the hitmaker used to pay for their family’s over-the-top luxurious lifestyle, but since she filed for divorce last year, he’s “economically strangled” her, and and she’s worried she’ll be left penniless. Mosley said Timbaland cut her off: canceling her credit cards, stopping her from charging for food and meals for her and their daughter, banning her and her mother from using her cars and threatening to put all of her clothes from their family home out on the street, according to court docs obtained by BOSSIP.
“Since the commencement of this action, the husband has embarked upon a campaign to economically strangle the wife and to countermand long-standing agreements between the parties concerning their daughter and other matters,” Mosley’s March 2 court filing, seen by BOSSIP, says.
“Currently, the wife is unable to perform the simplest of tasks,” the docs say, “such as utilizing her cellphone, without fear that the husband has compromised her device.”
Mosley made the claims in new court docs in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, where she filed a motion to force Timbaland – real name Timothy Mosley – to continue footing the bill for the lifestyle she enjoyed while they were still together.
Mosley said Timbaland invited a relative to watch their daughter, even though they both agreed that the unnamed relative shouldn’t be anywhere near the girl, according to the court papers. Mosley claimed she used to be able to spend whatever she wanted on her American Express Black Card – which he paid for – but he has now blocked her from using it. She said Timbaland curbed her access to their debit card, “leaving the wife with little to no support whatsoever,” her court docs say. Mosley also said Timbaland has threatened to fire her longtime housekeeper.
Mosley said Timbaland’s miserly money moves are in violation of a court order in their case that says he can’t change the family’s way of life just because the pair split up.
“Unfortunately, the husband in this case has determined that such orders do not apply to him, and he is above the law,” the wife’s motion reads.
But Timbaland fired back in a separate filing two days later, where he denied his wife’s allegations and asked that the court move forward on their divorce case ASAP. Timbaland also pled with the judge to have the pair settle their money problems in mediation so that the media and others wouldn’t seize upon it.
“The content and tone of the wife’s motions, if not reined in, make this high profile couple’s claims shark bait for gossipmongers, social media voyeurs, and those with more sinister motives to do harm to the parties and their family members,” Timbaland wrote March 4 in court papers.
The couple married in 2008 and were together for seven years before Mosley filed for divorce last year.
Mosley said she had a job as a “fashion liaison” for the TV show “Empire,” and was getting a monthly salary as the head of Timbaland’s company, Mosley Music Group. But as of this month, Mosley said she was no longer working for “Empire,” and said due to her husbands’s “recent erratic and volatile behavior,” she believes he’ll fire her from her position in his business, leaving her and their daughter destitute.
“Should the husband successfully terminate the wife’s receipt of compensation from Mosley Music Group, the wife will be completely unable to provide clothing and food for herself and the minor child, much less be able to maintain the lavish lifestyle enjoyed by the parties during their marriage,” Mosley’s petition states.
The woman said that while she’s struggling, Timbaland continues to live it up, traveling around the country with a large entourage.
Mosley has asked the courts to make Timbaland to pay for her and their daughter’s needs and wants like he did when they were together, to punish him for violating the court order and pay her lawyers fees.
