Justice For Ramarley Graham: Mother Of Unarmed Teen Killed By NYPD Wants Officers Fired
Ramarley Graham’s Mother Continues Fight For Justice
The mother of Ramarley Graham, the unarmed teen who was chased into his Bronx home and shot to death by Officer Richard Haste, is still fighting for justice for her son.
Earlier this year the Manhattan US Attorney’s officer decided NOT to prosecute Haste for Ramarley’s murder. Ramarley’s family was awarded a $3.9 million settlement for the wrongful death lawsuit they filed after the teen’s passing.
The New York Daily News reports:
Ramarley Graham’s frustrated family took their fight for justice to Gracie Mansion, calling on the mayor Sunday to punish the cops who killed the unarmed teen in his home.
Graham’s mother urged Mayor de Blasio to dismiss cops involved 2012 shooting death.
“The local D.A. has already failed me. The Feds failed me. My only option right now is de Blasio firing these officers,” 18-year-old Graham’s mother, Constance Malcolm, 43, a nurse’s assistant, said to the crowd as she stood in front of a black cardboard coffin with her son’s name and #FireNYPD written on it.
“I’ve been trying to meet with de Blasio for over two months now. My son was killed over four years ago, and I still don’t even know all the officers that were involved.”
Aides said that with the disciplinary process underway, it would be inappropriate for de Blasio to meet with the family.
Malcolm was joined by City Council members Andy King and Jumaane Williams, as well as Valerie Bell, the mother of police shooting victim Sean Bell.
