Reporter Says Beyoncé’s “Daddy Lessons” Isn’t A Country Song

A CMT reporter is currently getting the dragging of her life after she wrote an article blasting one of Beyoncé’s new tracks. Writer Alison Bonaguro recently wrote a piece titled “What’s So Country About Beyonce?”

In it she breaks down why Bey’s track “Daddy Lessons” isn’t a country tune.
CMT reports:

Sure, Beyoncé’s new album Lemonade has a song with some yee-haws, a little harmonica and mentions of classic vinyl, rifles and whiskey. But all of the sudden, everyone’s acting like she’s moved to Nashville and announced that she’s country now. Just because of this song “Daddy Lessons.”

If you ask me, this song is no more country than her “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

When Beyoncé released the surprise album Saturday (April 23), after her HBO special, the Internet was buzzing about track No. 6.

The song does have a message that might be considered country — almost like Miranda Lambert’s “Gunpowder & Lead” or “Kerosene” — so that much I get.

But that’s it. It doesn’t sound like a country song to me, she didn’t cut it at a studio in Tennessee, and it certainly wasn’t written by a group of Nashville songwriters. Beyoncé wrote this one with Diana “Wynter” Gordon, Kevin Cossum and Alex Delicata.

Soooo the track isn’t country because of where it was recorded??? What a weak azz argument Alison!

Alison is now getting stung by the BeyHive.

Do YOU think “Daddy Lessons” is a country song???

More reactions on the flip.
