In their investigation, CNN interviewed an anonymous theft who worked for a major airline and revealed how cleaning crews, flight-line mechanics and airline employees flock to recently landed airplanes to see what passengers left behind. “In my mind, I say OK everybody takes it, why not me? I see these expensive things. When I find something, they tell me, when you want to take it, take it. Don’t report it. (If you) want to report it, that’s your option.” The theft rings usually focus on items left on planes or in the overhead compartment, but some rings help transport far more serious items like drugs and guns, while other luggage handlers open bags and steal valuables…
