A Long Island woman lost out of a cushy $70,000/year job after Con Edison went three years deep into her Instagram and found a picture of the woman getting her nipples sucked. Now she’s suing.
Samantha Chirichella, 26, of West Islip said she was ready to start a $70,000 a year job as a staff investigator in Con Ed’s Legal Services department until a background check turned up a picture of her baring a breast for an art exhibit.
Chirichella says in papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court that the picture, posted three years ago, is art, not porn, and Con Ed is really rescinding its offer because of her “sexual orientation.”
The photo shows a mirror image of a nude woman nibbling at an aroused naked breast. It was shown in a gallery as part of a larger art show that featured the photography of a Chirichella friend.
The suit charges that Con Ed discriminated against Chirichella for her sexual orientation because on Instagram in the comment section, another friend asked Chirichella about the photo and if she was a lesbian. Chirichella indicated she was.
We are reviewing the matter now,” a Con Ed spokesman said Monday night.
Do YOU think they rescinded the job offer because of the boobs or was it really because of her sexual orientation?
