Jennifer Hudson Says She Was “Used” By Broadway
The nominations for the Tony Awards, recognizing outstanding performances on Broadway plays, were announced earlier today. Fan-favorite Hamilton broke records with an astounding 16 nominations for the production. But there was one very noticeable absence from the nominations when it came to another hot ticket play, The Color Purple.
Jennifer Hudson wowed audiences with her role as jazz singer Shug Avery. However, she was completely cut out of the noms. When one fan mentioned how foul it was that the Academy Award-winning actress wasn’t recognized for her breakout Broadway debut, Jennifer concurred — noting that she wasn’t all that shocked since she already knew that her name had been exploited to increase ticket sales:
Naturally, Jennifer quickly deleted the tweet. But foul is foul either way!
