Former NFLer Owes Six Figures In Back Taxes
Ex-NFL star Terrell Owens has been hit with more financial troubles, with both the IRS and state of California accusing him of refusing to pay up on his taxes – and the debt totals more than $130,000.
According to official records, the IRS first slapped a federal tax lien on Owens in February. The records show the government accused the football star of failing to pay a total of $93,229 in federal taxes.
Then a month later, the state of California filed documents demanding the NFL star cough up a total of $36,966 that it contents he failed to pay.
The grand total for the two liens comes out to $130,195 in debt for Owens.
The former NFL star has had his share of financial troubles with Uncle Sam having been slapped with numerous liens for unpaid federal and state taxes over the years.
Back in 2013, he paid off a total of $438,913.52 to the IRS for back taxes for the years 2005 ($294,661), 2007 ($46,504), and 2009 ($97,747).
Then last year, Owens was hit with another lien by Uncle Sam for $107,297 in unpaid taxes for 2013.
