Most Inspirational Black Graduates Of 2016
It’s graduation season. That means people are realizing their dreams all across the country. We’ve been so inspired by some of the pictures and stories we’ve seen that we wanted to share. So let’s enjoy some positivity. Take a look at some of the most inspiring Black stories from 2016’s graduation season.
Melonie Wright – She’s earning her law degree from Emory despite the fact her childhood special ed teacher said she’d never amount to anything. She was also homeless and had a child while in school.
David Norman – He’s 67-year-old former drug dealer who managed to graduate from Columbia College. His last jail stint was in 2000 then he turned his life around and got his diploma.
The Myles Family – This inspirational family is full of excellence. The mom will graduate from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law with her juris doctor degree. Also, her husband, Mario Myles, will earn his Master’s Degree in Special Education from Xavier University, and later their son, Mario “MJ” Myles Jr. will graduate from kindergarten from Lake Forest Elementary School.
Hurl Taylor – He’s a 77-year-old who just got his 8th degree. The last one is a Master of Religion in Public Life from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology.

Miranda – She took care of her special needs child and just got her diploma. Her story is truly touching.
The West Point Graduates – They posed with their fists in the air and pissed off West Point. But they still kept their fists in the air and flourished.
Kelly Price – She graduated as valedictorian of her class, getting a doctorate in the process. Kudos to her.
Will Smith – Will Smith was gunned down in New Orleans a few months ago. His widow, however, accepted his diploma on his behalf.
The Great 8 – These eight women graduated together from Indiana University all receiving PhD’s. That’s Black girl magic and togetherness.
