Ben Roethlisberger Declines To Speak On Behalf Of Donald Trump At Republican Convention
Ben Roethlisberger told me Saturday evening that while he is an acquaintance of Donald Trump, he will stay out of the political game and will not attend the Republican National Convention.
Trump had told The New York Times that Roethlisberger and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady were supporters of his and he would consider asking them to speak for him at the convention in July in Cleveland.
“He’s with us 100 percent,” Trump said of Roethlisberger during a campaign rally Saturday at Pittsburgh International Airport.
The Steelers quarterback said he has golfed with Trump, who has called him a number of times through the years to congratulate him for playing well.
However, Roethlisbeger said he will not endorse nor speak on behalf of the candidate, because he said politics are not his thing.
Big Ben has had enough trouble in his career with his allegedly rapey behavior. Last thing he needed to do was co-sign a racist.
