According to New York Magazine, the popular music streaming service recently partnered with dating app Bumble, the only dating site that only allows women to initiate conversations with matches, for a new initiative which allows singles to be matched with partners who share similar taste in music. According to Spotify, the new feature, which will be available in a few weeks, is intended “to help people make more meaningful connections with music taste in mind.” A spokesperson for the streaming service explains: “Rolling out over the next few weeks, users can connect their Spotify account to their Bumble profile to showcase the top artists they listen to most on Spotify…”

Apparently, Women Are Quicker To Bounce Back After Divorce

…According to a national survey conducted by Avvo, 73 percent of divorced women say that they ended their marriages with no regrets, while only 61 percent of divorced men could say the same. This same study revealed that most women prefer to be happy, alone, and successful as opposed to being miserable in a failing marriage. Sociologist and sexologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz reasons that men are often fearful of being on their own after living as a married person for so long. “Men are more fearful of being on their own once they’ve been domesticated by their marriage, and even though men are more likely to think that marriage is an outdated institution on principle – they’re more likely to want to stay put even if things aren’t so great,” observed Schwartz…

JET and EBONY Magazine Sold

It’s the end of an era. Johnson Publishing announced today (June 15) the long running, African-American skewed magazine’s EBONY and JET have been sold. The Associated Press reports that the magazines (Jet became digital only in 2014) were sold to an Austin, Texas-based private equity firm called the Clear View Group. The price of the sale of was not disclosed. According the Chicago Tribune, the deal closed in May, with Clear View Group assuming Ebony and Jet’s debt as part of the deal. For now, most of the staff of the publications will be retained, with Linda Johnson Rice, chairman of Johnson Publishing to assume the position of chairman emeritus of the board of Ebony Media Operations, which will be based in Johnson Publishing’s Chicago HQ.
