BOSSIP: What’s your secret?
Babyface: “I don’t know. You can give stock answers, but it’s not like there’s a secret to it. I’ve been lucky, I’ve been very blessed to have things work out the way they worked out. I think being versatile enough to work with so many artists. My career has never been about me, it’s about the stuff I’ve done for other. That’s kept me relevant.”
BOSSIP: Are you working on new music?
Babyface: “I’m getting ready to work with another oldie but goodie Johnny Mathis. He’s 80 years young.”
“I’m writing all the time with younger artists and writers. I’m just having fun in doing that. I also just did the music, along with Jimmy (Jam) and Terry (Lewis), for this New Edition miniseries that’s coming out. The actors actually did the singing on it. They came out great.”
(I’m) “producing albums with my brothers After 7. It’s coming out this fall and I’m putting together a record myself while I’m out on the road. I’m constantly busy all the time. Between that and family time, it’s cool.”
