Mother Of Baton Rouge Police Shooter Says Son Was Extremely Angry Over Black Men Kill By Cops
The mother of Gavin Long, the man who shot and killed three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is speaking out about her son, his untreated PTSD, and her feelings about the dead officers.
The mother of the gunman who killed three Baton Rouge law enforcement officers and wounded three others said her son would “pretty much lose it” every time he heard about a black man being unjustly shot by police.
Gavin Long often rented a car and drove to locations where black men had been shot by police and would tell his mother, “somebody has to do something,” Corine Woodley said in an interview with PBS talk show host Tavis Smiley on Thursday.
What she says next is a bit shocking and disappointing if we’re being honest…
“My heart bleeds for the families (of the officers), more so than Gavin,” Woodley said. “I know Gavin; I know he did it. He didn’t see any way out (from) the vicious killings from the police officers. He actually felt that was the only thing he could do to help the situation.”
Sure, those cops were “innocent” people doing their jobs, but you hurt more for them than your own son? Wow.
Woodley said she believes her son, an Iraq war veteran, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and he once said he believed the CIA was following him.
She brought a letter she said he received denying Long’s request for treatment of PTSD in 2013 on grounds that the disorder wasn’t related to his military service. The letter could not be independently verified.
Do you think Gavin’s attack on the cops has helped at all in our fight for justice?
