Baltimore’s famous “mom of the year” needs help finding a home — thanks to her son.
In April 2015, Toya Graham was hailed as Baltimore’s “Mom of the Year,” after smacking some sense into her rioting son on television.
More than a year later, the same son started an accidental fire, which left the 43-year-old single mother of five children and a granddaughter homeless on Saturday afternoon.
Her teen son Michael was frying chicken tenders and stepped away to use the bathroom when the blaze broke out
He then tossed water on the grease fire, making it worse.
Graham, who said she “beat the s— out of” her son when she spotted him rioting in a ski mask last year, has shown much more restraint this time around.
“I’m not blaming Michael,” she told reporters. “But I’m angry.”
The family has no renter’s insurance, instead turning to a GoFundMe page for help. So far, more than 60 people have contributed nearly $2,000 for the family in less than 16 hours.
