Scientists Claims HIV Disease Vanished From Blood Of British Man

Is a cure for HIV closer than we think?

The Telegraph UK reports a 44-year-old British man could possibly become the first person in the world to be cured of HIV using treatments created by scientists from five UK universities.

Scientists told The Sunday Times that the HIV disease has completely “vanished” from the the man’s blood, although they insist that could be a result of regular drugs used to treat the virus.

“This is one of the first serious attempts at a full cure for HIV,” said Mark Samuels, managing director of the National Institute for Health Research Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure.

“We are exploring the real possibility of curing HIV. This is a huge challenge and it’s still early days but the progress has been remarkable.”

Scientists and doctors claim that HIV is often difficult to treat because it targets the immune system, duplicating the disease into the DNA of healthy T-cells. We hope that this new treatment could mean the end of HIV!
