Comparing TV Actor Pay
Variety has leaked the salaries of TV stars in comedy and drama and the results are pretty staggering. What we know is this: white actors make decidedly more than black actors even when white shows have smaller viewerships than black shows.
Take a look:
Notice anything?
Well take a look as we break down the numbers for you.
Tracee Ellis Ross makes $80,000 per episode of Black-ish
Anthony Anderson makes $100,000 per episode as an actor…it’s possible he makes more as a producer.
Dwayne Johnson is the highest paid actor of color on TV, making $400,000 an episode.
Kerry Washington makes $250,000 and is tied as a black woman earner with…
Viola Davis who also makes $250K per episode.
Terrence Howard makes $175,000 per episode of Empire
Taraji P. Henson makes the same…
The Lyon brothers only make $20,000 an episode.
That means three of the main characters on TV’s hottest show make less than Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke for a season. By herself.
The main cast of Westworld makes $175,000 however it’s unclear if that includes Thandie Newton and Jeffrey Wright.
What’s remarkable is that so many of the shows on the list have viewerships much much lower than Black-ish yet the cast makes a fraction of the money.
Nobody on Luke Cage made the list, but we wonder if that’ll change going forward.
Black shows not represented, but hopefully soon: Atlanta, Power, Queen Sugar just to name a few.
