Rumor Control: BET Responds To Gabrielle Union’s $1 Million Lawsuit For Lowballing Her “Being Mary Jane” Salary

BET Releases Full Statement About Gabrielle Union’s Lawsuit

What does BET think of Gabrielle Union’s multi-million dollar lawsuit?

We reported earlier this week that the actress filed legal papers claiming that BET was trying to avoid paying her for appearing her in episodes of “Being Mary Jane.” Gabby says the network attempted to shoot 20 episodes this upcoming season but only pay her for 10.

Gabrielle also adds the network orally promised her there would never be more than 13 episodes in a single season, because they simply wouldn’t be able to afford a season that long.

The star’s contract clearly states that she’s supposed to receive a pay raise from $150k per episode to $165k per episode in Season 5. Gabby is now suing BET for $1 million in damages, including an amendment to her contract stating they will not shoot more than 13 episodes per season. Sounds fair right?

BET has fired back at Gabrielle and claims they want to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

“While we hold Gabrielle Union in the highest esteem, we feel strongly that we are contractually well within our rights and are committed to reaching a swift and positive resolution in this matter,” the statement read.

Do you think BET and Gabrielle Union will ever work this thing out for the next season of “Being Mary Jane” or nah? Sound off in the comment section below.
