Derrick Rose Found “Not Guilty” In Rape Civil Suit
After months of speculation, conjecture, arguments the verdict is in…Derrick Rose was found “not guilty” of gang raping a woman along with his two friends.
According to DailyMail, a federal L.A. jury only took 3 hours to deliberate and come to a decision.
Said the victim:
The 30-year-old woman at the center of the case, who is a currently a college student, described the scene when she woke up the morning after the alleged sexual assault, which occurred on August 27, 2013, in court papers.
‘As soon as I woke up, I was dressed, I had my dress on from the previous night and I never go to sleep with what I’m wearing. I always prepare myself first to go to sleep,’ said Jane Doe.
‘So I had the dress and it was up on my neck and I felt very wet and slippery. There was lubricant all over my bed and on my legs. Everything was tossed in my bed. There was a condom wrapper and a closed one not used.’
Since news of this case broke, Derrick Rose has been steadfastly effusive in claiming his innocence…
Rose said in court papers that the woman was alert during and after they had sex, and even cleaned the room when they were finished having relations.
His legal team stated that the alleged victim only went to police after failing ‘at multiple attempts to get money from Mr. Rose.’
Among the nine causes of action for which the alleged victim was seeking monetary relief were sexual battery, battery, trespassing, conspiracy to trespass and gender violence.
Rape cases are very complicated and it’s often hard to determine if the judge’s or jury’s decision is a true measure of “justice”. But legally, Derrick Rose is “not guilty”, though the court of public opinion may never exonerate him…
The opinions (good, bad and ugly) are pouring in by the dozen on Twitter. Flip it over to get into the convo.
