City National Bank Said Memphitz Took The Money And Ran
Memphitz may need to find another reality show for some quick cash after a judge slapped him with a more than $56,000 judgment after he didn’t bother responding to a bank’s allegations that he screwed it out of a loan deal.
City National Bank sued “Marriage Boot Camp” star Memphitz back in May for stopping payment back an $82,000 bank loan he took out six years ago. He had been making payments until 2013, when he abruptly stopped, even though he still had $43,420 left on the debt, court papers said.
It’s unclear what the $82,000 was for. BOSSIP’s attempts to reach Memphitz were unsuccessful.
Toya Carter’s ex-husband had until July to answer the bank’s allegations in court, but he blew the whole thing off, according to court papers obtained by BOSSIP.
But the judge wasn’t having it and put the producer turned reality star into default judgment Oct. 3, holding him responsible not only for the $43,420 loan balance but also for $10,500 in interest, $1,692 in lawyers fees and $509 in court costs for a total of $56,123.
A lawyer for City National Bank declined to comment.
As part of his divorce settlement with Toya, she was required to give him a one-time $8,000 payment. But that settlement money is just a drop in the bucket compared to this new debt.
