L.A. Ice Cream Shop Introduces Thanksgiving Flavors
Food in Los Angeles can be interesting, adventurous and just plain weird.
Enter, Salt & Straw Ice Cream Shop. A quirky lil’ dessert spot where they believe that people want Thanksgiving flavors in their sweet treats.
Check out their new fall flavors:
Is it mashed potatoes or ice cream? It's both! Our Buttered Mashed Potatoes & Gravy ice cream—one of five delicious interpretations of holiday dinner favorites in our Thanksgiving Celebration series, available at all scoop shops now—is a mouthwatering mix of whipped and frozen mashed potatoes, brown butter, and sour cream turned into an unbelievably tasty ice cream with a perfectly swirled ribbon of white chocolate gravy. One bite of this ice cream will transport you back to your first meal at the adult’s table!
Maybe your family’s Thanksgiving stuffing recipe is handed down through generations, protected and prepared every year by the revered matriarch… or maybe yours comes from a box. Stuffing comes in many forms, and it’s always a favorite at our table—our recipe for LA-exclusive Thanksgiving flavor California Acorn & Chestnut Stuffing is made with homemade acorn brown bread pudding (using local acorn flour, dried apricots, cherries, walnuts, and olive oil) that gets lovingly folded into a chestnut ice cream spiked with brown butter, honey, chestnuts, and thyme. Who knows, maybe our family recipe will join yours at this year's Thanksgiving table?
There’s no better way to finish off a delicious Thanksgiving meal than with our Spiced Goat Cheese & Pumpkin Pie ice cream. Indulge in warm spices, creamy goat cheese, and streaks of fresh baked pumpkin pie filling—it’s almost as if we scooped out that yummy pumpkin custard straight from the pie shell and smattered it into a spiced cheesecake ice cream just for you. We're proud to make this flavor with local goat cheese, fresh chevre from Portland Creamery in PDX and Cypress Grove in LA, to make sure your Thanksgiving meal ends on a high note. Come grab a scoop this weekend!
While most of the flavors in our Thanksgiving Celebration series are available in both Portland and Los Angeles, we wanted to create one special local flavor for each city to capture the harvest season in a pint. Each region's take on Thanksgiving stuffing highlights local collaborations and seasonal ingredients—Portland's Cranberry Walnut Stuffing features the crazy delicious cranberries grown in bogs just north of the Oregon coast by our friends at @starvationalley, as well as chunks of nutty stuffing made with cinnamon-raisin challah from @newseasonsmarket, sage, orange zest, brown sugar braised apples, and walnuts.
WHO’S EATING THIS S#!T?!?!
You down with this new bastardized Thanksgiving?
