Reality Star Says Baby Daddy Needs To Step Up
“Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Kandi Burress has hit back at her daughter’s father’s claims that they’re one “big happy family” after he accused her of shutting him out of the girl’s life.
“I didn’t want my baby daddy drama to be out there in the world.,” Kandi told BOSSIP Nov. 21 when she dropped by our New York City office. “That was something that I didn’t think was a good idea to be exploiting, basically. But he chose to come on the show, unbeknownst to me. I didn’t know that they were even talking to the show about coming on until his girlfriend came on the scene and basically popped up at the studio.”
Kandi said she was flying to New York when Sunday’s episode aired – where she blasted Russell “Block” Spencer for being a deadbeat dad and he accused her of shutting him out of their daughter, Riley’s life – and her first reaction was to call her daughter.
“She didn’t watch it yet, so I was kind of concerned with how she felt with it playing,” she said. “I called her and I said, ‘You okay?’ and she said ‘Yeah, I’m good. Don’t worry about it.’”
The mom of two said it was hard to watch the scene where Spencer said he’d been there since the beginning – because she said he’s been a sporadic presence in Riley’s life and hasn’t paid child support for the teen in three years.
“Even if you didn’t wanna give what you’ve been told to give, you can go buy a pair of shoes!” Kandi said. “You can do something. He’s done zero, nada, and no time put in.”
She added: “We live in the same city. So it used to get on my nerves that he’d be on the radio talking about the stuff he’s doing for the community and he’s buying this and that – but you’re not doing anything for your own child. That used to frustrate me.”
