Broadband Baddie Says Signorney Weaver Joining Super Hero Show

“Luke Cage” star Simone Missick said viewers should believe the hype about her new Nexflix show “The Defenders.”

The web series focuses on the Luke Cage and his fellow super heroes as they protect New York City.

“We just finished ‘The Defenders’ which is where you get Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Daredevil all together,” Missick told BOSSIP. “I can tell you that it’s going to be fun. We know that Sigorney Weaver (who plays villain, Alexandra) is on the show. Just to have someone with that kind of gravitas, stature when it comes to acting, is outstanding. But I think the fans will be really excited and really pleased with the way the show comes together.”

BOSSIP caught up with the beautiful Brooklyn-based actress at the Rise Up Foundation gala in St. John’s Parish, Barbados, last weekend. While Missick remained coy on whether we’d see her character, Det. Misty Knight and Luke Cage back on their Harlem stomping grounds in “The Defenders,” she said New York’s uptown neighborhood would definitely be back in Luke Cage’s season two.

“In Luke Cage season two, who knows what’ll come together when it comes together. Luke Cage is definitely a Harlem character, so you will absolutely see more of Harlem. I think Cheo Hodari Cokeris (the show’s creator) committed to showing that borough in his vision.”

The thespian also revealed what her character would be going through in the new series:

“Misty is still a detective in Harlem when we see her in ‘The Defenders,’” Missick said. “I can’t give away too much about that. But I think the fans are going to be really excited about what happens on The Defenders. And season two of Luke – I’ll be excited because I have no idea what’ll happen. None at all.”

“The Defenders” will premiere on Netflix later this year.
