Jaquyon Tillman Killed At Party
The family and friends of a promising Eastern Michigan University student are reeling after he was fatally shot at a party. Jayquon Tillman, 18, was murdered early Saturday morning in Ohio, officials said.
According to Detroit News, Tillman, a Cleveland resident and 18-year-old sophomore at EMU, was shot at a home near Kent University and authorities are still investigating what happened.
EMU’s President James Smith has released a statement on the shooting and he’s confirming that the school’s in mourning.
“It is with the deepest of sympathy that we mourn the death of Jayquon Tillman,” said EMU President James Smith. “Our heartfelt thoughts go out to his family and friends at this time of grief and sorrow. We stand by to offer whatever support the University can provide to all of those who cared for him and loved him.”
Tillman was active in several organizations on campus including the Delta Nu chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and EMU’s Kings of Color student organization.
