Trigger Happy Cop Betty Shelby Starts Trial In Terence Crutcher Case
The Tulsa police officer who shot at a black man needing road assistant and killed him is set to start her trial today according to Yahoo. Many are keeping a their fingers crossed for a guilty verdict at the end of Betty Shelby’s trial. But, of course, her attorneys will be fighting hard to convince jurors she was ‘following protocol’ during the man slaughter trial.
The Tulsa County District Attorney’s office claims Shelby “reacted unreasonably by escalating the situation from a confrontation with Mr. Crutcher. The claim he was “not responding to verbal commands” while walking away from her with his hands help up. They say Shelby became “emotionally involved to the point that she overreacted”.
Defense attorney Shannon McMurray told the jury that Shelby was a model officer who followed her training that day.
“She gave him every opportunity to comply, the evidence will show you. This was a rush to file charges,” McMurray said. “And when you look at the whole picture, all the evidence will show this.”
Still, Crutcher was unarmed and innocent of any crime. All he need was Triple A.
The jury consists of two black women, seven white women and three white men. The alternates are one black man and one white woman according to reports . Shelby has pleaded not guilty. She faces four years to life in prison if convicted, according to AP.
