L.A. Rams Are The First NFL Team To Sponsor LGBTQ Event
The Los Angeles Rams have taken another step in becoming more inclusive by sponsoring an LGBTQ event in California. If you remember, the team drafted the first openly gay player in NFL history, Michael Sam back in 2014.
According to TMZ, Venice Pride has partnered with the hard-hittin’ NFL franchise to put on for the guys, gals, guys who used to be gals and gals who used to be guys and everyone in between.
The Rams organization will sponsor the letter “C” in the world famous “VENICE” sign. Beginning June 2, each letter will be a different color, just like the LGBTQ flag.
A Rams spokesperson issued a statement saying the team is proud to “stand in alignment with the LGBT community that is such an important part of the fabric of Los Angeles.”
“Inclusion has always been a valued part of our organization and we see this as a unique way to publicly celebrate the diversity that makes this community so special.”
While this is commendable for the Rams, we have a strong feeling that there won’t be many other teams outside of Cali that will follow in their multicolored footsteps.
