Pregnant Rape Victim Awarded $6,700,000 Over Milwaukee County Jail Rape, David A. Clarke No Shows In Court
A Jury awarded a former inmate from the Milwaukee County Jail $6,700,000 over a 4-year-old sexual assault claim. The 19-year-old woman says she was raped repeatedly by a prison guard, in “various places” while she carried out time in a county jail, supervised by Sheriff David A. Clarke.
Earlier this week, this same woman made headlines when David A. Clarke defended shackling her while pregnant by her hands and feet while she gave birth. SMH.
According to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the woman told juror that a prison guard named Thicken raped her all over the prison on several different occasions. The young woman testified that she’s still tormented, having nightmares about it 4 years later.
The guard, Xavier Thicklen, was acting under his scope of employment when the sexual assaults occurred and therefore Milwaukee County is liable for the damages amount, the jury determined.
Theresa Kleinhaus, one of the victims attorneys, told the Journal Sentinel that her client, who is not being named because she is the victim of a sexual assault, was pleased with the verdicts.
“She was raped repeatedly at the age of 19. She sought justice and she is glad the system delivered that justice. She hopes to prevent other women from being sexually assaulted in the Milwaukee County Jail.”
Supervisor of the jail, David A. Clarke, who was ghost at the trial, just accepted a job at The Department Of Homeland Security.
