Amazon Buying Whole Foods Market

Expect to get some of your favorite organic groceries delivered straight to your doorstep.

Amazon announced today that they plan to buy Whole Foods Market for $42 a share, in a deal valued at $13.7 BILLION, reports CNBC.

The company’s CEO John Mackey will reportedly remain in power after the deal closes, and the store will continue to operate under the Whole Foods brands.

“This partnership presents an opportunity to maximize value for Whole Foods Market’s shareholders, while at the same time extending our mission and bringing the highest quality, experience, convenience, and innovation to our customers,” said Mackey in a statement.

Amazon has been pushing to expand its online grocery business so this deal makes a LOT of sense.
