Former Republican Party Leader Joseph Dendy Pleads Guilty To Sexual Abusing Children

After pleading guilty to molesting a 12-year-old and 4-year-old boy, a former Georgia Republican leader, Joseph Dendy,  was sentenced to life in prison this week. The creepy old man admitted his guilt to the crimes, which occurred between 2004 and 2011 at Dendy’s home, his church, and in a store dressing room, AJC.com reports. Reportedly he was molesting the boys “repeatedly.

One victim, now an adult, told the court that he has nightmares of the abuse and became a military police officer to help other victims. Dendy served four years as chair of the Cobb County GOP. His second, two-year term ended in 2015.

Dendy’s guilty plea “came as a surprise” during what was to be a pretrial hearing. Prosecutors were expected to call several additional witnesses who said they had also been abused, but that wasn’t necessary. At the tender age of 72, Dendy must serve 30 years minimum of that sentence in prison.
