Tyler, The Creator’s Shoe With Converse Comes Out This Week
Converse announced a collaboration with the ex-Odd Future rapper in the video below:
The first show being release by this new partnership is a pair of classic suede One Stars, which Tyler first responded to a picture of via his Twitter page:
The design for the sneakers is based around the cover of his upcoming album, ‘Scum F— Flower Boy,’ with Converse’s classic Lunarlon insole detailed with the sunflowers from the cover art. There have not been any official release details from Converse itself, though the collaboration is expected to officially release later this week on July 13th.
Tyler formerly released a few collaboration sneakers with Vans, which was fitting due to his strong ties to skateboarding. A line on his upcoming album (which was leaked almost 2 weeks early) comments on him leaving that company to opt for a new deal saying, “conversations with Converse finalized, ’cause Vans fucked up.”
Converse has been known to do collaborations mostly with designers and streetwear brands, so this rapper collaboration might be a new direction for the brand. Tyler was thought to have a deal working with Adidas for his Golf clothing line, but seeing as Converse is owned by Nike, it’s unlikely that deal will come to fruition now.
