New Iowa Restaurant “Me So Hungry” Sparks Outrage
Although there is literally ALWAYS a new example of cultural appropriation damn near every week, we haven’t become desensitized to it, and each and every example deserves to be called out until these clueless kale salads get off our d**k.
According to HuffPo, in Des Moines, Iowa a 90’s hip-hop themed Southern soul food restaurant called “Me So Hungry” is set to open this summer.
Problem is, it’s owned by a Becky with good hair instead of an Aiesha with jingling earrings.
Per usual, the owners, Sarah Cattoor and Ryan Greening vigorously defend their offensive idea in spite of complaints:
“We have been fans of hip-hop music along with other genres for all of our lives and look forward to opening Me So Hungry,” the couple said Monday.
“We welcome all varying views, and in fact you will likely find our views run very counter to many of the [racist] views we are being claimed to have,” they continued. “We encourage people to join us for breakfast and open up a productive dialogue about any issue.”
Asian folks are PISSED:
Why couldn’t these people just open a Bob Dylan restaurant and keep it movin’. Attaching hip-hop/Black culture to things doesn’t make it “cool”, it makes us hot…
