Baby Dies In Hot Car While Mother Goes Into Hair Salon
A 25-year-old mother from Georgia is now in police custody after leaving her one-year-old baby girl to die in hot car while she spent SIX HOURS getting her hair done at a hair salon.
The New York Post reports that DiJanelle Etta Fowler is facing charges of felony murder, cruelty to children and concealing a death in the June 15 death of Skylar Fowler. The baby girl’s lifeless body was found inside a parking deck a Emory University Hospital. According to warrants obtained by the newspaper, the mom had a hair appointment and left her baby in the car before she entered a salon at a Tucker shopping center at 10:06 a.m. She didn’t leave until 4 p.m., according to witnesses and security camera footage.
Later, Fowler texts a friend saying she was having a seizure. That’s when she ended up at Emory. Police say they initially believed the child died during Fowler’s visit to the hospital — but her timeline of events didn’t add up, and an autopsy suggested the little girl had been dead since she had left the salon.
