Man Popped After Carrying Estranged Wife’s Corpse In Trunk To Meet Internet Girlfriend
This is so nuts…
A woman, Tamara R. Harris was reported missing by family so the police came to question her estranged husband to find her. According to a WFAA8 report. The Texas residents were going through a divorce at the time, but still made contact to exchange their child. The man, Dequalan Dejuan Harris, told detectives that he had last seen her when he picked up a child from her home on Thursday.
Friday came and Demika Rucker, the suspect’s new girlfriend, confirmed with police that Dequalan arrived at her home…a whole 17 hours away in Ohio. Mansfield police Det. Lt. Rob Skropits Monday said that Dequalan Harris drove 17 hours to Mansfield, Ohio, “for love” or “an internet connection.”
Police had tracked Harris’ vehicle while out-of-state, using its On-Star locator as part of a wellness check on Tamara and checked the trunk before towing the car, at which point local police discovered the woman’s body. Dequalan has been arrested on $1 million cash bond and so far faces a charge of abuse of a corpse, a fifth-degree felony. Richland County Children Services is helping police to care for the child that Dequalan picked up from Tamara’s house.
Police are still investigating what exactly transpired. Poor woman, RIP.
