Witness Comes Forward In Justine Damond Shooting
New details have emerged in the fatal shooting of Australian yoga instructor Justine Damond. According to Minnesota’s Star Tribune, a witness who was nearby when Justine was fatally shot has been located and is cooperating.
The witness was apparently bicycling in the area near Damond’s home immediately before the shooting and watched officers perform CPR according to a news release from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The witness is also believed to have recorded part of the encounter which is crucial considering that neither officer on hand had their body camera on.
In related news, the attorney for Justine’s family recently told reporters that she’s “the most innocent victim of police violence he’s ever seen.” Mind you there are victims like 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley Jones who was fatally shot while sleeping in her bed.
There was also a protest and vigil held for Justine that went vastly different from previous protests of black police shooting victims.
We hope Justine’s family gets some answers for this tragic shooting. This story of an unarmed victim being shot for seemingly no reason at all feels ALL too familiar.
